Nervous System of the Business

There’s a pattern I see in many founders and leaders:

They become the nervous system for the entire company.

When they are calm, the company feels calm.

When they are stressed, everyone feels it.

When they are uncertain, decision-making slows down everywhere.

When they lose trust in someone, the organization reorganizes around that loss of trust.

This is not because founders are controlling.

It’s because in most companies, especially early and mid-stage, the founder is the emotional and decision-making center of the system.

Which creates a significant risk:

If the founder is exhausted, overwhelmed, or isolated, the entire system feels it — even if no one is talking about it directly.

A lot of organizational issues are actually nervous system issues at the top.

But most founders don’t have a place where they can talk about that honestly.
